  1. So.....was everything explained on what is what at this dinner? Or did the food look good enough to not bother? I would have been okay with the later. I would not have the wine though.

    2. The dinner included fish and rice and veggies with lots of Classic Kenyan seasonings! You are missing out if you are not into wine though...lol

    3. Yeah, maybe. However the same thing could be said by others on drugs. I decided long ago not to drink alcohol. The food sounds great though.

When my sister was pregnant, the only "craving" she had was sushi. Everyone she ask to go with her said "Eewwww, why would you want that?" All except me that is. So we went to Witchita, Kanasas to a nice place and tried a plate with a whole variety on it. It was great. No, I did not have any saki with it, just tea. I have a bottle of saki given to me as a birthday present that has been in the back of my fridge for over seven years, unopened.

  2. Eww - you can keep the fish (I'm allergic), but the rest sounds great. I've been on a bit of a Moroccan spices kick lately - are the Kenyan dishes similar? Good food, good wine and good company - there is nothing better!

    1. If I may ask, what part of fish make you allergic? Is it all fish or certain kinds?

  3. Dunno - I've never been that forensically inclined; fortunately nature provided a massive clue, in that all fish and seafood tastes revolting to me. I gag immediately, and couldn't force it down, even if I wanted to, so I don't feel as if I'm missing out on anything.

The only drawback is that a lot of the harbourside and beachfront restaurants here seem almost obliged to focus on seafood, for some reason. There's plenty of excellent steak and other good stuff on offer, though.

And Renee: we're less than an hour from wine country here - when you and your better half come to visit we'll take you round some top wineries and you can taste some of the best in the world. ;)

    1. Les, thankyou so much for the Kindle Birthday gift! Can you believe that I had just purchased that book on my Kindle just before I checked my email? Yes, I will definitely use the credit to purchase another book. You know me well. I've been reading through "Sense of Style"

  4. My pleasure - I took a chance that you might already have bought it, since you'd mentioned it. I hope you had a terrific birthday!
